2021 Faces of a Community - Roche Tissue Diagnostic Art Exhibit https://ckapuranis.zenfolio.com/blog/2021/4/faces-of-a-community---roche-tissue-diagnostic-art-exhibit Historical Portrait of Giuseppe Verdi, Italian music composer. Verdi's operas have survived for 100 years and continue to delight throughout the world. Verdi confronted head-on the world in which he lived. His music reflected his passion, energy, strength, courage, and love.

His ethos gives me the courage to reflect on my voice in my heart, hoping to inspire the viewer by sharing my process and technique and using mark making to tell a story.

2021 BFA Exhibit, University of Arizona https://ckapuranis.zenfolio.com/blog/2021/4/tucson-my-home---bfa-exhibit I question what connects us to a particular place. The spirit of place creates the ingredients of community and belonging. Viewing an aerial image on Google earth, we are blind to the details of man’s life and history down on earth. In the topography, we see shadows and elevations of mountains, lakes, hills, and desert. In contrast, as we zoom in further and further, we go on a more profound journey. Our eyes are opened to life, nature, and details of the built environment– man’s impressive handiwork.

These drawings are brief extracts of what makes Tucson unique and special and answer why I connect here. Tucson, My Home, inspires me to grow and learn, observe the moon, planets, and stars, and explore places while respecting spiritual and human creation gifts.

Through memories growing up with vintage phones, accordions, and pottery, my Greek culture also plays a big part in how I find my place through conversation with a diversity of people and experiences. Hello? … let’s catch up with a coffee and a walk.

THE ART OF PLANETARY SCIENCE: The Moon Lights My Way (Zoom cast) https://ckapuranis.zenfolio.com/blog/2020/12/taps-2020-the-moon-lights-my-way-zoom-cast In the 2020 TAPS exhibit, my artwork uses photography to capture images of the Moon, which is rendered in oils, pastels, and in acrylic to make tactile art. I would like to see art become accessible for blind and visually impaired students as a way to teach and learn about Astronomy.

Featured is Tactile Moon (acrylic on canvas), and poem book, WoMan of the Moon (Letterpress printed) which was shown in the TAPS exhibit this year.
